Shocking: Woman Accused Of Election Malpractice Stripped In Public (Photo+Video)
A Malindi woman was publicly shamed and stripped after she was
accused of election malpractice during a by-election. The woman who was
publicly disgraced has demanded for justice. Martha Wanguo demanded justice saying the two officers, who
allegedly arrested and dragged her to a polling station, should be apprehended,
reports The Star Kenya. According to the report, Wanguo said youths assaulted her over
claims of voter bribery before stripping her. She said they recorded the
incident and later shared it on social media. "The officers were fully involved in my assault and
stripping. They even asked who I voted for. They made calls and I was later
attacked by youths," she said.
Shedding more light on the incident, Wanguo said she had just
cast her vote when the group attacked her and took her belongings, including
her driving licence. The act was condemned by women leaders at a press
conference.
Speaking, women representative, Zinab Chizduga (Kwale), who wept
while issuing a statement, and Emma Mbura (Mombasa) and members of Parliament
MPs Naomi Shaban (Taveta) and Wahome Muthoni (Kandara) condemned the act. "We the Mijikenda community do not accept such incidents in
our society. It is necromancy. We ask the IG to intervene and bring those
involved to book," Mbura said.
"It's so shameful to see a woman stripped. Today is
International Women's Day but we have nothing to celebrate because one of us
was heavily assaulted and almost gang-raped. We ask Uhuru to come to our
rescue," she said.
